On a surprisingly beautiful day in the Sunset, DJ Soul Suspect call a few folks, plopped down two turntables, a mixer and two beautiful speakers and provided some deep pumping reggae beats for the neighborhood. Sunset Shapers Surf Shop was in cahoots with a BBQ and sidewalk sale. Great weather & great tunes made for a great afternoon.
This first set is Soul Suspect warming it up.

I recently started listening to a collection of the Goldwax singles. Though they specialized in Memphis Soul, they recorded a bunch of other styles including some great R&B and a few Country acts. After listening to the whole set, I pulled my favorites in to this set. As you can imagine, then tend towards funk, but the Memphis Soul has some blues in it as well. I threw in a couple tracks that were not Goldwax recordings just to get a good (almost) hour long mix of goodies. Enjoy.
